What’s a Guardian Home?

We believe that all dogs should live a life as someones beloved family member, whether they will be used for breeding or not.

In an effort to continue to expand our breeding program, and to ensure all of our breeding dogs live a pampered life with their very own forever family, we have implemented a Guardian Home Program.

Living the Best Life

Here at Cajun Doodles and Retrievers all of our dogs live in our house as our family dogs.

In order  for us to continue with our breeding program, all future breeding dogs need be placed under our Guardian Home Program, since we never want to house our dogs on our premises in a kennel environment. We just don't believe dogs should have to live that way.

Quality of Puppy

Our Guardian Home Program allows for local families to have a “pick of the litter puppy”, or top notch adolescent/adult breeding dog for just price of our baby having a great home. The Guardian Home puppy or dog is part of the Guardian Home’s Family forever, while the breeding rights are retained by Cajun Doodles and Retriever’s.

Once the Guardian Dog has completed his/her breeding career, he/she will be spayed or neutered at our expense, and the dog will remain a forever pet of their Guardian Family!

Requirements to Qualify for Our Guardian Home Program.…

  1. live within 90 miles of the Owner's residence in Lafayette, LA
  2. own your home
  3. be able to safely contain the dog, preferably in a fenced yard or on a leash
  4. prior experience as a dog owner
  5. be willing to crate and house train a puppy
  6. proof of obedience training within the first year with a licensed trainer
  7. keep me updated on the dogs progress via email/message/phone
  8. be able to afford high quality food (currently Purina Pro Plan), flea/tick routine, heart worm preventative, routine vaccines, and expenses for any illness or injury. I do recommend pet insurance (It is not unreasonably priced)
  9. be available to help with transportation if needed for breeding and whelping
  10. provide the puppy with plenty of love and socialization
  11. All guardian dogs must see a professional groomer every 6 weeks. The puppy/dog that is placed in your home represents all our dogs. They must be groomed on a regular basis. Please keep this cost in mind when considering my program.
